Shuswap River Monitoring:
-
Shuswap River Stewards
On October 29 Russ Collins, Jane Girvan, Andrew Miller and Terri Deuling met at RDNO with Rick Fairbairn and Andrew Hunsberger to discuss continued funding of the water testing program. Money is available thru the “Gas Tax” and funding in the amount of $5,000.00 per year was approved for the next 3 years. Funding is dependent on the group belonging to a registered society, which MLCCRC is, so a committee has been officially established. Samples are taken at 7 sites 3 times a year and delivered to CARO in Kelowna. Caro bills RDNO directly and RDNO pays. The water stewards have not spent the entire $5,000.00 allotted annually so there is potential for a discretionary sampling to be taken if concerns arise. Russ gave a brief presentation and showed the location of sampling sites and the results of the past 11 years of testing. Very well organized and documented.

-
Picnic Tables: Should be put away for winter.
-
Winterization of Hall: As long as propane tank is full and furnace doesn’t break down we should be in good shape for winter. Snow plowing can be arranged as needed.
-
Next meeting: To be determined.
