Minutes on 2023 AGM read, Fred moved to adopt, Doug 2nd.
Report from Chair:
2nd year post Covid, Bookings for hall steady, social events back. Burger night, an informal social event had good attendance, Fall Potluck and Christmas Dinner likewise well attended. What is the purpose of the hall? Rental or Community? Community events should be priority.
OLD BUSINESS
Rental Policy: reviewed and changed regarding weddings and parties. Noise levels often intolerable to people living near so booking of that sort will be to residents or people known to community with the noise consideration stressed. Youth groups will be welcome and encouraged. Sonja’s Moms and Tots program well attended. Toys have been purchased and are being well used and enjoyed.
New Sign: After the existing sign was damaged Doug Neill arranged for a new sign from Condor Signs and built a beautiful shelter to house and protect the sign. Leanna’s event signs are very nicely done.
Yard Maintenance: Maddox Lishman did an admirable job keeping the yard looking well kept.
Phone & Internet: Fred Smith arranged for the service to be changed from Xplrnet to Telus Fibre. Cheaper rates and better service.
Interior Health: Inspector out again this spring and was happy with the chlorination system and the cleanliness of the kitchen.
Mouse Problem in Storage Room: A good trap has been installed.
NEW BUSINESS
Hall Maintenance: Jay Hammer from RDNO was out and looked at stairs and railing. RDNO will replace the rotting boards and fix the fan hatch at the top of the wall so the wind can’t blow it open.
Treasurer: Fred Smith stepping down as treasurer.
Directors: Sonja Peters volunteered as a Director in the Summer and Dave Lansing stepped up as Director in the fall, nice to have the new additions.
Cooperative Community Wildfire Response. Terri has been in communication with the Fraser Basin Council and MLCC qualifies for funding from the BC Wildfire Service. We’re a registered society and live outside fire protection area, as a result BCWS will pay for residents to take the S-100/185 Firefighting Course to be prepared for the coming season of potential forest fires. A course is being offered at the hall April 20 & 21. 19 people have registered to date.
Course offerings: Leonard wondered about offering a first aid course at the hall and Ardis suggested a FireSmart course might be well attended.
